Arthur Cohen is an AV rated trial partner (highest available rating), who handles complex medical malpractice cases and is the firm’s lead trial attorney in our toxic tort litigation. His practice focuses on the management and trial of medical malpractice and asbestos cases. Arthur has lectured to insurance companies with regard to file handling and trial strategy in the areas of medical malpractice and toxic torts. Arthur has been qualified as an expert witness in the field of toxic tort/mass tort defense. He also serves as the firm’s President.
For over thirty-five years, Arthur has successfully defended numerous high exposure medical malpractice cases on behalf of physicians and hospitals, involving claims of brain damage, failure to diagnose cancer, as well as surgical and emergency room failures, among others.
He has also tried cases involving claims of death and serious injury due to alleged inhalation of asbestos.
Arthur is a member of the American, New York State, New York County Bar Associations, the Bar of the City of New York, and the Defense Research Institute.
Arthur was selected to the 2014 and 2015 New York Metro Super Lawyers list.
He obtained his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. After a distinguished record as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County for four years, he joined Gordon & Silber, in 1979.
Arthur lives in Westchester, New York with his wife Ellen, a physician. They have three adult children, Jessica, Lindsay and Devin.
