Christina Kaouris is a Partner who focuses her practice on the defense of medical malpractice cases from inception through trial. A litigator with over twenty years of experience, Christina supervises a team of attorneys dedicated to the defense of high exposure medical malpractice cases. She plays a key role for the Firm in the formulation of legal strategies for cases involving complex or novel legal and medical issues. With her expertise in dispositive motion analysis and execution, Christina is often able to secure outright pre-trial dismissals, or to significantly circumscribe liability and damage claims. As a result of her successes, Christina is sought out by many clients, who request her representation through their carriers, and who also seek her counsel concerning anticipated litigation.
Christina’s practice encompasses the defense of physicians, nurses, physicians’ assistants and several metropolitan area hospitals. She has successfully defended catastrophic injury cases, such as an adult left in a chronic vegetative state due to anoxic brain injury; neurologically impaired infants; as well as quadriplegic and paraplegic injuries. She has secured dismissals of cases involving claims of malpractice concerning: delay in diagnosis of various cancers; obstetrical and gynecological care; cardiology practice; anesthesia management; emergency room care; general surgery; neurosurgery; and radiology. Christina also advises hospital clients concerning risk management issues, JCAHO matters and Quality Assurance procedures, and represents physicians in OPMC proceedings. Christina co-administers the firm’s in-house continuing legal education program for associates and has lectured for the New York Breast Imaging Society.
Christina received her undergraduate degree from Barnard College in 1989. She earned her law degree at Brooklyn Law School in 1992. Christina is admitted to practice in New York, and in the Southern and Eastern Districts of the United States Federal District Court for New York. Christina serves on the Committee on Medical Malpractice of the New York State Bar Association’s Trial Lawyers Section; and is a member of the New York State Medical Malpractice Defense Bar Association.
Christina resides in Queens with her husband and two children.
